STEP 5: Required Documents
Income - If you are salaried, you will need to provide the past two-years W-2s and one month of pay-stubs. If you are self-employed, you will need to provide the past two-years tax returns.
In addition, if you own rental property you will need to provide rental agreements.
If you receive social security or retirement income, documentation providing proof will be needed.
Assets - You should provide the most recent, two months bank statements. In addition, you should provide most recent copies of any stock, mutual fund, brokerage or IRA/401k account statements.
Other documents - If you are recently divorced or receive income from a divorce settlement, you may be required to provide a copy of the divorce decree.
If you have a previous bankruptcy that is still reporting on your credit, you will need to provide a copy of the bankruptcy filing and the discharge documents.
There may be circumstances in which other documents are needed or a borrower written explanation letter may be required. Your mortgage professional will provide a list of required documents.
